2010 Scholarship Application

FOLIO Lillian Born Norberg/Mary Lu Atkinson Staff Support Scholarship Program

 

(A minimum of $350.00 each is available for up to four recipients)

 

Eligibility and Requirements

 

  • Applicants must be currently employed at a public, academic, or special library in the state of Oklahoma. 

 

  • Full or part-time employees are eligible for consideration.

 

  • Applicants must enroll in credit coursework, seminars, or workshops that accomplish educational goals at an educational institution: a community college, a four-year college or university, technical school or graduate school. Proof of enrollment and completion of coursework may be required.

 

  • Priority is given to education for a master's degree.  Applicants should strive to complete credit hours in the humanities, computer science, library and information science and/or instructional media at any level.

 

  • Applicants must submit the application form and a one to two page response  to the essay question: What are your continuing education goals and how will further education help you in your library career?

 

  • Deadline for submission of applications is April 1, 2010. Selection will be made by a committee comprised of FOLIO Board Members. Scholarship amount will be a minimum of $350.00 for up to four recipients, depending on committee selections.

 

  • Scholarship awards will be presented at the FOLIO Annual Meeting Luncheon, held during the Oklahoma Library Association Annual Conference on April 21, 2010 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.


  • Recipients will receive one free luncheon ticket and may purchase additional tickets if desired.

The FOLIO Scholarship Committee and Board thanks all who applied for the FOLIO Lillian Born Norberg/Mary Lu Atkinson Staff Support Scholarship.  We had an outstanding pool of applicants.  The committee members carefully considered each of the candidates and made recommendations for our limited pool of funding.  We wish all applicants every success as they  continue their educational pursuits in librarianship.
